i must apologize for dropping off the face of the earth. i haven't checked email, i haven't checked blogs, i haven't been eating, i havent' been sleeping. i haven't done much of anything since last monday night. i have been busy reading. i liken myself to saul on the road to damascus. i was a persecutor. a mocker. a non-believer. but now i have seen the light, i know the truth, and now i need forgiveness. count me in with the believers. i have read twilight and i know that it is good. it is sweet unto my soul.
it all started last weekend when i went to see the twilight movie with some friends. my interest was limited to just having fun. and it was fun. but the next morning when i woke up and all i could think about was the movie and all my questions that needed answers, i knew i was smitten.( or bitten???)
but i was going to be in control of the situation. i wasn't going to jump headfirst into the book. i was going to be a casual reader. i just borrowed one book at first. when i finished that one less than 24 hours later, i borrowed the next two books. by saturday i needed the fourth book. let me be clear, i could care less about vampires and werewolves and any other type of nonsense. this is beyond nonsense. and i am well aquainted with nonsense.
i found myself reading any chance i could find. i carried the books around in their own little protective bag. i made a special twilight bookmark. i think big T hid it from me just to play with my mind.
i read-
whilst blow drying my hair:
whilst exercising:
on a side note, this pic really makes me want to grow my bangs back out. shaggy dog! or should i say, shaggy werewolf???
whilst cooking:
whilst driving: i would get a small pang of excitement if i knew i was going to be at a long stoplight and i could sneak in a paragraph or two. i shrieked with delight when i realized that i was going to be stuck at a railroad crossing for about 5 minutes!
whilst parenting:
have i just had my ticket punched for the crazy train? certainly. but what a way to go!!!
in conclusion, my family thinks i'm nuts. i'm completely exhausted. i ran my slowest time ever at my race on thursday. i made a blood red velvet cake for thanksgiving. but for reals yo, i would totally recommend this series of books. drama, humor, teenage-angst, thinly veiled gospel messages, cheesiness and it was completely clean(i feel completely guiltless about reading it in the church foyer yesterday after church). it's all that and a blood smoothie. drink it up. what more could a girl ask for?
if you would like to read my pre-book reading twilight movie analysis, click here. i will also being posting my individual books reviews there. i know you are dying to hear more pointless ramblings from me.

You are so not alone. I read them as they came out but the book 4 - I had to wait until vacation because I knew I would neglect everything until I finished reading it. Unfortunately I still haven't seen the movie (but Rob agreed to go with me if I waited until this Saturday - so I'm holding him to it).
You know, I hate to have to say this, but I TOLD YOU SO! Or blogged so. Wait, no, no I don't hate saying that, and I will grant you the forgiveness you're seeking. :)
Welcome to the Twilight world. I got sucked into them after weeks of mocking my SILs and MIL for being all over them. Then I got sucked into going to the movie, which I also mocked every chance I could before I saw it. And...I liked it all. Darn.
You make EVERYTHING so much fun! Can't wait to hear more details!
love it, love it, love it! i had a feeling you would be bitten. and i know what you mean about reading wherever you could. whilst i was reading books 1-3, i was nursing a voracious little vampire baby just about every hour still, and i would just hole myself up in the bedroom with the baby and the book(s) while ehtan and grace were left to their own devices. (and yes, this happens quite often when i am in the throes of reading).
i am SO looking forward to your individual book reviews. and on bella's baby's name.
I have not been bitten - but I AM tickled over this entry. Who did the photog work for you?? It's brilliant - BRILLIANT! I'm just glad no one follows me with a amera to document what I do when I'm supposed to be parenting ;)
wow, you exercise in you sunday clothes?....I prefer to walk on my treadmill in my wedding dress...but i guess we're different people! And what exactly were you cooking?...I'm glad you liked the books they are great, and thanks for such a fun post...
I was such a hater of these books for the longest time. Then Cameron went out of town for a week for work and I was sucked in. I read the first 3 during that week and actually went very early in the morning to secure myself the 4th book. I am a loser. I also convinced my hubby to see the movie(he hated it, I am still undecided) with a group of 18 of our friends( I guess we are all losers). I love that you love it. You are so funny...and your outfit in the pictures is adorable!
Well I'm about as obsessed with reading your posts as you are about reading Twilight. I haven't read them. And I didn't read Harry Potter (although Julianne tried to convince me to--sorry Jan). BUT...
I read 3 books of Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants in like 4 days over the summer. And I just saw the second movie and I cried in it. Maybe try those. Or make fun of my obsession with them. Either way.
I was the same way Heidi. I waited until I was over here in China and read them. Since I've a lack of reading materials, I've now read them several times.
Thanks for writing the review I would. Blasen thinks I'm crazy too.
I too was sucked onto the Twilight train, though a few months before you. I hadn't even heard of the books until the fourth book had been announced, and then I couldn't help hearing about them everywhere I went (so it seemed). Usually the conversations I overheard went like this. "Twilight? What's that about?" "It's about a vampire. . ." "Oh, that's not really my thing." "No! It isn't like that! It's good!" Finally I put a hold on the book at the library. It took a couple of months for my name to top the list, but I got it. Then I had to wait for the next two. I didn't wait for the fourth though. Shortly after it came out, my grandma gave me some birthday money and I went and bought the book that day.
I have yet to see the movie.
I love the Scooby doo song title, and now it's stuck in my head. Very clever.
I think Twilight fans everywhere can relate to your current state. I know I can. They truly are fun. I forgot to tell you that two of the ones you borrowed are autographed, not just the one, I didn't have her sign New Moon, b/c it was my least favorite and there was a limit of 3.
Zumba tomorrow?
Love it. I have to admit I am surprised you are such a fan, especially after the movie review. I didn't hate the books but didn't love them either and felt the same way about the movie. There were some funny (read cheesy) parts in it that just made me laugh. So the big question is are you on Team Edward or Team Jacob? I think we have the same shirt btw-where did you get the pin?
So, are you going to join book club? Let me know if you want any info... We're meeting Thursday!
Love you. Love the pictures. Love your writing. Love your outfit (holy hotness!). Love just about everything. Except the topic at hand. Sorry. I just can't jump on the Twilight bandwagon, even AFTER reading the books. I just don't get the obsession. Harry Potter I get, but Twilight, nope. I hope we can still be friends!
Heidi. Thank you. Your Welcome.
I had to laugh after talking to Heather yesterday when she told me you were totally obsessed with reading Twilight. I became hooked way back when book 2 was just coming out...so I understand the obsession...and it is nice to see other people obsessed as well...espcially obsessed enough to exercise in Sunday clothes while reading. That is impressive! I look forward to your analysis of each of the books!
Heidi. You. Are. Hilarious. I'm glad that you're a believer now. I loved the pictures by the way! (and I just have to say this because I think it's funny but probably so not true -you workout in your dress???)
You are so funny! I love that your blog makes me burst out in laughter and my husband looks at me like I'm nuts. The books were awesome.
WOW For the love of Peter Pan...you have 19(...well 20 now) posts on here. I don't think i even know 20 people, let alone 20 people who read my blog. You are larger than life awesome!!!
Forgive me for being intrusuive and writing a comment without officially meeting, but I am seeking advise from the lovely Heidi at the counsel of my lovely (yet fierce) mother Katherine Wilkins (also known by Flores). If I have the right Heidi, then I believe you serve with my mom in the Primary...correct?
To make my request quick and dirty, here it is:
I recently got called to be the Primary Chorister and Secretary in my new ward. I have some experience in the first calling, but I am almost completely clueless about the second.
This is where your counsel enters the picture.
My mom raves about your talent in this area, and I was wondering if you could offer some pointers, refer me to some great websites, or whatever help you can offer.
I have the "book" list of what I need to do, but I want to bring a little "Heidi-inspired style" to the calling.
If you could offer any kind of help, it would be very much appreciated.
