baby you can drive my car

this week i learned that reagan can open the door to my car, climb in and pretend to drive. while i should be alarmed, outraged, concerned, shocked, _______(insert parenting expression here), i was actually quite proud of how strong, tall and smart he is.

his faithful companion blanket was riding shotgun, of course.

also, because scarlett is three months old today, reagan decided that she could wear his paper hat that he got at the ymca today.

and then he had to wear it and make that weird face he always makes.

amazing! a picture of reagan wearing pants! my faithful readers know that at home, this is a rare occurence.

silk is not for babies and parenting is not for wimps

this weekend was a BIG one for us in the simpson familia. scarlett grace was blessed on sunday in waycross and my parents flew down for the occasion.

this is not THE bench that forrest gump sat on in the movie, but NEAR the place where the bench scenes were filmed. and just across the street from thomas'esses office.

reagan was thrilled that we went on a horse and buggy tour of the city!
unfortunately, this was a little too close for comfort.
but our smart boy was pleased as punch to announce to everyone within earshot, "Horsey POO POO!" we actually didn't need the annoucement; it was quite obvious to all of us. but we appreciate the gesture just the same.

savannah saw more revolutionary war action than civil war action as displayed by this revolutionary war cannon.

everyone loves a picture of themselves from the back, right? thomas, miss scarlett, grandma sandy, reagan, and grandpa.

as we were walking around the city on saturday night, something quickly became apparent. i kept noticing that nobody was really on a "date" on this typical date night. there were people everywhere, but they were mostly sticking to their own gender. i just dismissed it as a big girls nite out or guys nite out. i was sort of right:

it was the savannah gay pride festival that night. you can see the large displays of rainbow balloons in this picture.

scarlett really enjoyed being held in this position as we walked around on monday.
finally, a picture of me. just because i am vain(and usually the photographer).

we were able to drive down to waycross on sunday for scarlett's blessing. it was nice to have so many friends with us on this special day!

charlie moore(father of many nations), reagan, thomas, cousin DJ and miss scarlett
thomas, mimi susu and miss scarlett
it was so bright that i was having the hardest time keeping my eyes open. it is hard to do my movie star smile when my eyes are watering because of the sun.

you may have noticed that scarlett is wearing a pink onesie in all of the pictures. that is because right after the blessing, she decided to EXPLODE(i tried to match that color to the color of the poop on her dress)all over her dress and my mother, who was holding her at the time. we made a quick getaway to the bathroom and while grandma cleaned off her clothes, i stripped scarlett down. and then i tried not to cry when i saw how bad the damage was. this is what i get for buying her a silk blessing dress. i painstaking searched for the exact dress that i wanted her to wear. interestingly enough, i found this one at gapbaby. it was love at first sight and it was on sale! i didn't allow anyone to touch it and i never touched it without properly washing and drying my hands. it stayed wrapped in tissue paper for months. and this is the thanks that i get:

this is just the damage from the back, it went everywhere.

i took it to the dry cleaners this week. they didn't seem very enthusiastic about this little project. we'll find out tomorrow how it worked out! if anything i hope the front comes out stain free so that i can at least get a few pictures of her wearing it.

savannah, atlanta and the seafood lover in me!

we've arrived! we survived! but this whole eastern time zone fad needs to stop! you have to stay up WAY too late to watch david letterman or the colbert report!
we are mostly unpacked, but there are still a few things that need homes. what to do with all this stuff???
we like the house and neighborhood...

...but i think that our new house is haunted. both of these pictures have fallen off their perches since we moved in. both were quite secure, or so i thought. the large wedding picture was above the fireplace. scarlett was in her swing just below where the picture was hanging and it narrowly missed hitting her. glass shattered everywhere but not on her. there is no reason why the picture shouldn't have hit her. divine intervention. the other picture was on a shelf and just slipped off onto the floor this morning. someone is not happy about these two loud kids living in their house!

we had planned on arriving in savannah at around 4pm, but a huge thunderstorm followed us the whole way from montgomery. we arrived around 9pm. because of all the lightning, we weren't able to start unloading the van until midnight. reagan finally collapsed on the floor about 12:30am.

a young georgia fan in the making:

reagan adores scarlett(and her mickey mouse diapers). he really wanted her to wear this hat and was quite upset that she didn't like it. also, this is how the seating arrangement is in the kitchen while i am cooking. scarlett HAS to be in the bouncy seat and reagan HAS to be in her carseat on her left. there are no other options, if you ask reagan.

finally, last weekend we went to atlanta with thomas'seses mother so that she could go through the temple for the first time. i was the escort and i thought i was pretty special! susan was pretty special too. anywhoo. many thanks to the kilgore/giddens/robert brood for watching my two little pumpkins while we were at the temple. perhaps that is what put natalie in labor? congrats to the giddens familia!
atlanta temple
heidi and susan. can you tell that we had been in the car since 6:30am with 2 babies? yeah, we look pretty good considering all that!
son and mother. a very momentous occasion!

we went to carraba's for dinner while susu was here and thomas made the observation that sometimes baby does get put in the corner. haha! 10 points to whomever can tell me who played baby's daddy(another haha) in dirty dancing!

one time in college i was out to eat with my friend emily. she ordered the sole and i recall thinking, "yuck, fish! it must be cheap or something, she can't possibly like that!" but it's not cheap and she did like it! and i have since had sole stuffed with crab and also, talapia so i have figured out that pretty delicious and quite healthy if it is not drowned in sauce!!! since we live sososo close to the ocean, i have made it my goal to become a seafood lover. at carraba's i had the lobster ravioli and it was fantastico!
