pre-race. everybody loves booty shorts. they make you run faster. though utterly tasteful, i thought mine were a touch too short. check out the teenage skanks that slipped into the picture with me and made me look like a modest prude.
my personal cheering section. littlebigmouth mostly cheered for the free donuts they were handing out. el presidente was cheering for the football lights at the stadium. thank goodness legaleagle had his blackberry to keep him occupied.
take a gander at my romanian-pre-teen-gymnast hairstyle. i think i had eight hair barrettes in total. all i needed was some spray glitter for my hair and a too small long-sleeved leotard that rode up in the back i would have been set. i'm not one of those runners that can handle their hair touching them at any time. it ruins my concentration and focus. plus, it's extra gymnasty(my new word) because i am stretching while balancing on the curb. gold medal-tastic.
the purple circle is me. the red circle is my time.
holla at my boy!(tim gunn)
and so this completes my 2008 three road race goal. what have we learned kids?
1. you don't have to have any athletic abililty whatsoever to be a runner.
2. i now consider myself an athlete and i walk with a jock-swagger wherever i go.
3. is that it?
reagan's soccer team is like herding cats. 10 three year old's who can't listen to save their lives.
balancing the ball on one hip, while the other hand was nonchallantly placed on the other hip and smiling at the same time was almost too much to ask for.
and don't get me started on the team picture.
the end. fancypants out!

You are brave to put your boy in an organized sport already! I have decided to wait at least another year. But, go Reagan!
You rock the casbah Heidi! Way to go on your 3 races-it is impressive and you have given me an idea for next year:) I love your running look-just call you Nastia or Shawn or whatever....
herding cats. i love it. so accurate and so true. i'm pretty sure thats why i didn't bother putting ethan in soccer this year.
and as for your racing, you go girl. i especially love the tim gunn shout out, the romanian gymnast reference, and the super fast time! you and paula have both kicked my butt with your 5K times. although, i do think my rex lee run time was not completely accurate because i was sick that day...hahaha.
i'm doing my 10K on thanksgiving day, and then i will be almost completely done with all three of my new year's resolutions!
but back to you, fancypants. is that you're new nickname? because if it is, i love it! and just to let you know, you and your kiddies just might be getting a little something in the mail sometime soon...
Congrats on three races! I gearing up for my second race of the year next weekend and hope to come somewere close to your time... I haven't run a 5k in a long time.
love the fancypants nickname. YOu go ahead with your time. I ran another 5k Sat. for diabetes, I don't know my time yet but we can just say it aint 27:07! YOur the Bestist!!! Peace out!!!
Well, since the post ended with pictures of Reagan and his soccer team, that is what is most freshly on my mind and making me laugh, so I will comment on that first. Freaking hilarious. Well, there's my comment on that.
As for your race - whoohoo! 3 road races? Where was it, and where did it end? 27:07 is terrific. You are superbly looking fit. Wait, I mean you are looking superbly fit. Yes. And nice work. That really is great, a big accomplishment.
I totally am getting a pair of booty shorts for my race . . .
I think you are a ROCK STAR. 3 races in a year. I am in awe.
I dig the romanian-pre-teen-gymnast hairstyle. You look hot. Great job at the race!
p.s. you have inspired me--not to go run a race (how would that look being nearly 7 months pregnant?), but to read Gone with the Wind. I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I've never read the book. I've meant to read it for years, and I did see the movie in high school, but that doesn't really count. I now have the book and the movie on hold at the library. Thank you for reminding me to add this book to my personal literary repertoire.
i am impressed. heidi! maybe one of these days i will pick up running...if only for the booty shorts!
p.s. love the gymnasty 'do
i'm so proud of you!!!!! you are the best ever. i think we should sponsor our own race around mom's neighborhood. we could totally rig it, easy!
Too funny, Heidi! Congrats on your run! That is awesome and you look fabulous!
Congrats on the personal best! You've got some serious braggin rights. Impressive.
Heidi, I just read your comment on my recipe blog and I have sent you an invite to the family blog. I am very excited that you want to read my blog, and I am sorry I didn't get your comment sooner!
Heidi - you are inspiring me. You make me want to start running. As soon as this baby is out I want you to coach me on how to start a running schedule so that someday I can enter races!
