a royal weekend

we had a royally good weekend! busy and fun are the best combination unless it's not busy at all and fun.

because of the royal wedding, i wanted to do something extra fun that the girls would remember for years and years. the royal wedding is rather insignificant in our scheme of things but i like to pretend i am a secret citizen of the united kingdom, minus the wonky teeth. truthfully, i have a wonky tooth. i loathe crafts but i like design.
i bought supplies to make fascinators, as we faux british people are wont to do.

i wore my david bowie shirt, because he's british. i used sparkle glue gun sticks to make it extra special. i made it over the top, because i'm over the top.

i really loved doing this! we need to incorporate fascinators in daily life! plus, more often than not, i could benefit from a little veil over my face.

athena blythe is my big wedding fan. she has come home from school many days with pictures of her and some hapless victim getting married in the temple. as much as she detests church, she knows we get married in the temple and she's also looking forward to getting baptized. she also loves being fancy and reading fancy nancy books and has practically memorized "fancy nancy and the wedding of the century". she kept asking me when we were going to a wedding and i cannot think of a single wedding on our horizon. UNTIL, i realized that everyone's favorite ginger, prince harry, was going to be marrying everyone's favorite C list actress, meghan markle, on LIVE TV!

athena blythe thinks i somehow coordinated all this just for her.

it was a huge mess but it was a great mess. in fact, it's still on my dining room table as we speak because it is not a pressing mess. stay tuned for the pressing mess.

the next morning, i dragged out my wedding dress and wore it, more like "wore it" as i could not get it over my massive muscular shoulders. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. i tuned into the wedding just as she was walking down the aisle and everyone else was still asleep. being alone is my favorite.

then we went to the chapel to fulfill out cleaning assignment. reagan loves cleaning the chapel. reagan loves being involved. feel free to involve him in your lives and activities. he just wants to be part of things.

as we were cleaning, someone picked up thomas's phone that he had left on the pulpit for safekeeping. he was listening to music in his headset and knew the exact moment when the phone was moved out of range. he looked around for it but we eventually formed a small search party to track it down. neither athena blythe nor hersch claimed responsibility. for such sneaky kids, they usually cop to their misdeeds fairly quickly.

reagan told his wonderful friend parker, that they needed to pray for the phone's safe return. bless parker's heart, he went along with reagan as they found a quiet corner and offered up a prayer to help find thomas's phone. reagan's prayers work. within a few minutes, the phone mysteriously was found right on a pew, where several of us had already looked. i'm thankful for reagan's prayers and for whoever decided to return it.

reagan and parker:

after chapel cleaning, thomas and i worked out and i did a new max squat weight for 3 reps. 155lbs. thomas is the most encouraging spotter.

i played the royal wedding for the rest of the afternoon in the living room so athena blythe could come and go during her playing and catch glimpses of it.

that evening, scarlett had her 5th grade chorus performance at the local high school. it cost $5 a ticket and this is the only picture i took. but she did great and now knows all the words to la bamba!

sunday morning was unremarkable. thomas and i actually had a few minutes to just the two of us at the breakfast table. then the pressing mess happened. we went upstairs to finish getting ready and we discovered that herschel had turned the sink faucets on full blast and covered the drain with a tub and was proceeding to flood the bathroom. and i mean flood. all my drawers on my vanity were full of water and the floor had inch deep water. and that my friends is how you go from first place being on time to church to last place in 10 seconds.

during sacrament meeting, i realized that scarlett had to fill in for someone giving a talk so we quickly wrote on in the pew and then practiced in a the parking lot.

she did great because she is great.

that was our royal weekend.

That flood sounds like a ROYAL PAIN! Loved your fascinators! More than any of the ones I saw on tv. What did you glue them to?

I knoooooooooooow you don't need another person requesting another blog post from you and that you're really busy but I would love a Royal wedding fashion analysis breakdown from you if you ever have a sec.
